I have been reading a lot of stuff as of late about how much better Win7 is, and how crappy and shitty Vista was, and I for one would like to toss in my change and make some observations.

As for Windows Vista, I bought a copy of it about a week after it came out. Took it home and installed it on my computer. I did not have a tired ten year old computer at the time, but one I had built within the last year. From the day I installed it, until I removed it and installed Windows 7, it ran flawlessly.

You heard me, flawlessly.

Everybody’s big bitch about Vista was how slow it was at first. I found it to be pretty zippy actually, but then again, I did not put it on my old shit box I had sitting in the garage since 1999. I put it on a modern machine that could handle it. Most of the people I know that had problems with Vista’s speed were morons that thought they could get by all right running it on there 900Mhz AMD Duron with 128Mb of RAM. Yes, I know someone that tried that, I call him pinhead  for a reason.

I felt the look and feel of Vista was far superior to XP. Which by comparison looked outdated and tired, and still does. Plus, you might recall that when XP came out, people HATED it!! They complained about how it did not support their hardware, how it was buggy, BSOD’s all sorts of devilry in the box.

It was a while before XP became the wonder that people loved so much.

A lot of people that do not like Vista never even tried it, they listened to other people telling them what was wrong with it and just assumed they were telling them the truth. Did Vista have issues? Sure it did, but I don’t think they were as major as what people have been led to believe, nor do I think they were as bad as what they really were.

Case in point. SO many people bitched about the UAC asking you is you want to run that or not. I know a lot of people that thought that was ignorant. Even the Mac fagads used it to point out a Vista flaw. Well, when my old lady got the Confiker, you can bet your ass I was more than happy to have a little bit extra security then! ((She runs WinXP, and won’t get off of it))

And now Windows 7…

I admit, I like it better than Vista, but, it has much of the same feel to it to me than what Vista had. I like the small improvements to the performance, and the UI, but I don’t see where it is so far superior to Vista that everybody gushes over it and still hates Vista.

I think a lot of it is perception. no matter how distorted that perception might be.

OK, so I read the article above, and I could not help but laugh until tears formed in my eye. OK, where do I start.

First off, no one makes somebody take out large loans for college. There is not a thug on the street corner holding a gun in your face to make you take these loans out. So crying about it later is not only stupid but petty. You borrowed more than you can pay off, pay the bill and shut up already. If you borrowed more than you can pay back, your a jackass, simple as that.

“But Uncle Nasher, I just HAVE to get into THIS School!! You don’t understand!! I wanna BE somebody someday!!”

What the hell does that have to do with anything??? Look kiddies, I know its really impressive to go to a big name school. You think that as long as you go there your just bound to be able to get a good high paying job somewhere. Well guess what?? No one cares anymore about what school you went to. I want to hire someone that can do the job, and will take the smallest amount of money to do it. I don’t care what college you went to, hell, in this day and age its a liability. Why should I hire you when you are expecting a big paycheck, when I can get someone who probably is just as good if not better than you, that went to a dumpy school and I can pay that person ALOT less and save the money. Hell, I might hire two just cause I can afford it and get twice the work done.

I understand that you think people still care about this stuff, but lets face it, with money so tight, you think a companies top priority is making sure they get that grad from a high dollar school?

Then there are these people that take up “Woman Studies” which when I looked it up is apart of “Liberal Arts”. OK.. lets see.. a degree in Liberal Arts basically just means you been to school for a number of years, so here is a diploma, now get out we don’t wanna see you anymore. Liberal Arts is basically making you ready for a career in… what exactly? I mean, what does a liberal arts major actually do? What are you qualified for? I can look at a person that went to Art school, and say, OK, that person can be a photographer, or maybe a painter, musician, you know.. something.. but liberal arts? OK, you are so general that you have no special skills that you can put out on a job somewhere… explain to me again why I should give you a big paycheck? I mean, that’s like me giving you money to be mediocre. Point being, if you are going barrow massive amounts of dollars to go to school, pick a career that pays massive dollars. Don’t barrow 100,000 dollars and then take a major in something like pottery, and then wonder how am I going make enough money to live on and pay my loans back…. jackass….

So you spent all those years in school, supposedly learning things, just to end up at the end as an ass hat. Hope your parents are proud.

Now having said that…

I am a frequent follower of various blogs, and thus I often read the comments left over, and it absolutely amazes me what passes for spelling, grammar, and basic linguistic skills!

First off you have the morons that think they are cool because they use cut up words. Things like “Ur” instead of “Your”, or even worse, the infamous “K” cause there either too stupid or lazy to type “Okay” or hell I would even take “Ok”. Is it that difficult?

Secondly, I know your cranium hurts cause your brain is too small inside suck a large cavity, it obviously must bash back and forth a good bit. So you probably think that you are writing properly, or that you are “kule” (God help me if I see this one too many more times I might choke)).

In actuality it reflects a lack of intellect that makes me think either you are a public school dropout, probably around fifth grade; or you are mentally handicapped from either severe drug use or being dropped on your head as a child.

On second thought, you can’t be mentally handicapped because little Timmy can probably use a keyboard.

Is it really so cool to come across so stupid? Is it too difficult to use regular words? I know the educational institutions in this country have gone downhill quite a bit, but I did not think they had dropped THAT badly.

Now I know some of you morons will probably bring up the topic of cell phones and text chat, since much of the comments in question are written in such. I can understand, if you are using a rather small keyboard and screen, you may want to dice up the print a bit to make it fit and be easier to send, but… A COMPUTER is NOT a cell phone!!! Moron!!!!

You have a full-sized keyboard!!! Use it!!!! Stop sounding like you rode the short bus to school everyday. TRY to use some of the education our tax dollars gave you. It might have been a crappy one, but its all you got.

And, also, I wrote this entire post from my Iphone, so you losers that say you can’t type anything meaningful or substantial on a cell phone, go choke!

I began to search several of the other computer makers.. Not just Dell.. but HP…. Apple… Acer… eMachines.. Toshiba… ect. ect… And not a SINGLE one did not have page after page of complaints, horror stories, people that were emotionally damaged by this terrible machine they bought. If it was not the machine, then it was the tech support or maybe I should say lack thereof.

So really, the point is this. Buyer beware!! Do some research BEFORE you buy the junk.. most companies if they are selling a dog, someone has bought it and is pissed off enough to write about it on a review site or some forum somewhere. And be specific.. the company that makes it, and the model number. That will get you some info on how good, and how bad, it can be.

Another thing, if you are buying a computer based completely on its price, you will get what you pay for. Don’t complain six months later when it melts on your desk. It was cheap remember?

I am sure that every computer maker out there makes good machines. They can’t ALL be bad, even a moron gets it right every now and again. Some, depending on where the parts were made, who their supplier is, ect ect, might have more of a trend of machines that come out bad, or broken, or have a tendency to break a little easier than others. Thats called life, and it’s not just computers, but anything we buy, no matter what it is. You get lemons, you get broken products, you get machines that only work for a little while, or not at all out of the box. Deal with it. If customer service sucks, then don’t buy their machine anymore, but don’t go online somewhere telling me how bad the widgets from Company A are, but how wonderful the ones from Company B are.. they are all garbage. It does not matter WHO you buy from. You will get the same junk regardless, just some people have better luck with it than others.

And for the self-righteous computer nerds, that extol the virtue of “Self-Built” computers… that’s fine, but not everybody sleeps with a mouse in their pajama bottoms. Some of us live life and don’t think about that next great computer we are gonna put together. So that’s NOT an option for most people. Most people I know can barely spell computer. Plus, you are not immune from problems just because you bought or built a custom machine. Parts DO fail.. nothing is perfect.

So computers suck, no matter the make, and yet, so many of us use one. Even though they suck, they are so compelling to most ordinary people that we have at least one, possibly more than one, in the house with us. I think, therefore, that for all the various horror stories out there, that we will continue, as humans, to not only buy, but enjoy, and indeed, obsess over our computers.

If anyone has suggestions on some that I should try, then shoot me an email and I will look into it.

I had been watching all the commercials, listening to all the hype and I thought to myself, “Wow! How nifty!”

Upon getting said Iphone I must admit, I was impressed. I was impressed by how easily I got sucked in by all the hype. Don’t get me wrong. There are alot of cool things about the Iphone. Its very sleek, there is no real keyboard, so things like typing fast with accuracy is something you can be completely worry free about, its sluggish, as in I hope you have time to wait when you open and close an app cause sometimes you will be waiting a while. The wonderful acceleromiter, if I had a nickle for everytime that laggy piece of shit just hung there I would have enough money to have buy a real phone.

So, I can do this all day, dont even get me started on the App store, the ipod, Itunes, and of course the phone calls themselves.

Granted, I get to look so cool when I go somewhere and I have my handy Iphone with me. I feel like I should have the word “Tool” stamped to my forehead.

Invariably its a hashing together of letters and words that’s so hard to understand you need a damned robot just to tell you what the hell it is. I have at many times just given up and did not bother cause I got tired of getting the sequence wrong. So my question it, if you can’t read it and put it in, what is the good of it? Why bother having it?

I am sure all the reasons for having it are valid, and the computer geeks will get moist thinking about what bitching technology it all is, but the average person could not give a shit less about it, seriously.

If you are going to make us jump through damned hoops just to post comments on your shitty blog, at least have the decency to make those hoops easy to jump through….

If you have surfed the internet long enough, I am sure that you have come across an advertisement or two along the way that offered you something really cool…. for free… like an Ipod, Iphone, a Plasma Tv, all kinds of shit, high dollar stuff… absolutely free… or you can get it free, “For testing purposes” Yeah, sure pal…

Anyway, to my point, I happened to see one of those ads the other day, and I was not so much surprised at the ad, in itself, but that it was on a website I would have taken to be more careful in associating itself with such silliness and obvious scamming… but I digress.

So of course, knowing full well it was a rip off, I signed up for it. Specifically it was a company that wanted to give me a free Apple Macbook Air. My close friends will know how funny that is as the only thing I detest more than Apple computers are warts on my ass and circus side show freaks… at any rate, I signed up for it, and you guessed it!!! I had to “Fullfill” 2 agreements for them… I might post pictures later since this was acctually a really well made website. The colors were bright and it made me in a way think of the circus side show, it certainly made me want to vomit…

So after I filled out all my info and signed up for these “Services”, I sat back and watched as alot of money began to dissapear off my credit card from companies I have never heard of, and never wanted to hear from… anticipating this, Uncle Nasher did all of this testing with a pre-paid credit card so when its all said and done I can just cancle it and walk away.. though I will never get the dirty feeling off of my soul…

Regardless of all that… and how stupid it is to fall for that shit, I needed to post this so that maybe someone might be enlightened….

Anyway, no I have not gotten my free Macbook Air… when I went back to the website later, I supposedly had to fullfil 4 offers, not just the 2 they told me about in the begining, so it went from just 2 harmless offers… ((Which ended up costing me over 150$ btw)) now they wanted me to do 4 more… do you see where I am going here kiddies?

What can we learn from this…. one… DO NOT GIVE YOUR INFO OUT!!!! Not to anybody… unless you are ABSOLUTELY sure you are getting what you are paying for… two… if it sounds to good to be true, ok, I won’t finish that, you know what I mean…

One more important thing… one of the charges on my card was very strange, as in, it had a phone number attached to the charge, but LO AND BEHOLD!! When one called said number, all you got was a “Disconnected” Notification from the operator.. so take that morons that think this “Free Item” shit really works…

I will not mention at this time what webpage I happened to be on when I seen this, you have probably seen these all over the place, but I will say this.. the web pages that host this advertising I feel are as liable for you getting screwed as he company bending you over. They allowed that advert to show up on there webpage, and while they may not endorse it, they got paid to have it there and its causeing financial greif to there users, so yes, I hold them liable for what is seen on there page.
